Template Paper or digital display of the dimensions of the finished piece, used to ensure proper layout.

The "Book" Standards: Red Book: See CD Audio. The CD standards for audio were originally published in a book with a red cover. Yellow Book: International standard set by Philips and Sony which defines the physical properties of a CD-ROM disc.Orange Book: The standard for the recordable compact disc. The standard has two parts, one for M-O (rewritable) and one for W-O (write once).Green Book: The CD-I standard is known as the Green Book. TIFF Tagged Image File Format. A popular format used to capture graphic images. TIFF stores images in a bit-mapped (raster graphics) format. Time Base Corrector (TBC) Device used at the output of a videotape machine that stabilizes the sync signal of the video. Also allows for the adjustment of hue, saturation , brightness, and contrast. Timecode A signal recorded on videotape that is used to identify specific locations within the tape. It is recorded in Hours, Minutes, Seconds and Frames. Title In DVD-Video, the largest unit of a DVD-Video disc (other than the entire volume or side). usually a whole movie, program, music album is a title. A disc can hold up to 99 titles, which can be selected from the disc menu. Top cap Material that forms a flat, level surface horizontal to the base of a pallet that is used to protect the integrity of the mail under the top cap while also supporting a loaded pallet above. A top cap must be secured to a pallet of mail with either stretchwrap or at least two crossed straps or bands. Track In multi-media formats, a distinct element of audio visual information, such as the picture, sound track for specific language version, et al. DVD-Video allows one track of video (with up to nine angles for multiple views); up to 8 tracks of audio (with 2-6 channels of sound in each track); and, up to 32 tracks of subpicture (menu screen graphics) data.

Trap, Trapping The art of creating a hairline overlap of printing where two color meet so the white of the paper does not show through. Tray A container used in postal facilities to hold letters and First-Class Mail flats. It is used as a basic unit of mail quantity for purposes of preparing mail to qualify for discounted postage rates. Also see full flat tray, full letter tray, less-than-full tray, and overflow tray. Turnaround Time The time required for CDs to be mastered, made and shipped, measured from the time premastered data, artwork and other materials are in the hands of the manufacturer.
